9 Films DC Should Make Before Flashpoint
5. Green Lantern
DC has been seemingly fearful of even touching this character after 2011's flop of a film, but we need a Green Lantern film in order for Flashpoint's storyline to remain intact.
Hal Jordan plays a big part in Flashpoint, with the change for him being that he never became a Green Lantern. Instead, he spends the story as the pilot he had always dreamed of being, and nothing more. What makes this so wonderful is that it gives us the chance to see Hal struggle in a way that the Lantern character never truly had before. His greatest strength has been stripped from him without him even being aware of it, and yet he is still a hero, through and through.
However, this doesn't work without a frame of reference for who Hal is in the regular timeline and his role as a Green Lantern, which is vital information the DCEU has neglected to provide us with. Simply inserting Hal into Flashpoint with absolutely no background information on the character would be a huge mistake that would undermine the gravitas of the story, but removing him from the plot altogether would also be a poor choice that would cheapen the film.
The only way around this paradox is for DC to face their demons and try their hand once more at a film spotlighting the Corps.
