9 Films DC Should Make Before Flashpoint
2. Martian Manhunter
Yet another classic DC character who plays an important role in the overarching narrative of Flashpoint, who would need a proper introduction before he could be effectively used in the film.
Poor J'onn J'onnzz hasn't gotten so much as a passing mention or hint in the DCEU so far, which is a genuine shame for many reasons. First off, he is a genuinely wonderful character, who is often portrayed as one of the core members of the Justice League. Sadly, he was noticeably absent from that superhero group's big-screen debut, but to leave him out of Flashpoint as well would simply be cruel.
His alternate timeline story was well-chronicled, to great emotional effect. J'onnzz was treated less as a hero and more as an experiment by the government. Held in captivity and studied for decades, similarly to Superman, J'onnzz was eventually pawned off to the Russians, where he met his untimely demise.
One of the key reasons this needs to be in the Flashpoint film is just how much it raises the stakes of the entire story. Manhunter was one of the core members of the League, someone seemingly safe, yet he was murdered in a freaking side-story.
It tightened the tension of the entire story and could work similar wonders for the film, but audiences would have to be given the chance to care about J'onnzz in a solo film before this could ever begin to work.
