Fox's 2015 reboot of The Fantastic Four was an absolute disaster, but there was a time when fans had hope for the project, as hard as that is to believe now.

With Chronicle's Josh Trank at the helm, a talented young cast, and several years worth of lessons to take from the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, there were tons of reasons to hope that this would be a fantastic reinvention of the property. The only dent in that pre-release hype was the fan backlash against the film's characterisation of its villain, Doctor Doom.

Originally, the character was going to be called Victor Domashev, a change from his comic-book name of Victor von Doom. Presumably, this was altered so that his name sounded a bit less silly, and more realistic and grounded, falling in line with the tone of the film. Regardless, fans were not very chuffed.

This resulted in the movie changing Victor's name back to von Doom, ready for its August 2015 release. Actor Toby Kebbell told Collider that the fan backlash against Domashev was what resulted in this change, stating "It's got to be Doom!" when asked about the film's reshoots.
