6. Star Wars: The Stormtroopers Miss On Purpose

Obi Wan is a sharp guy, one of the wisest Jedi knights in the Star Wars universe. So when he vouches for Stormtrooper marksmanship in A New Hope, that's enough proof Stormtroopers can shoot straight if they try.

They're apparent inability to hit their targets throughout the saga feels almost like a plothole in light of the Jedi master's comments, but this theory renders it a moot point.

The Force is strong in this one. The idea goes that feigning incompetence is a tactic regularly used by Stormtroopers while under orders to allow certain targets to live.

Princes Leia and Luke Skywalker were, in many ways, more useful to the Empire alive than dead, so maybe the Emperor's foot soldiers do miss them on purpose.

Not convinced? Well, those who buy the theory cite that scene where the Rebels flee from the Death Star too easily as evidence. The Stormstroopers allow them to escape so they can track them, thus playing dumb like they do all the time, supposedly.
