2021 is already teasing us with images from upcoming projects. Will Smith, Kristen Stewart, Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie will return to theaters... or at least streaming to our homes. The drought of content is coming to an end and it couldn't happen any sooner.

The effect of the pandemic on the movie industry will be felt for many years to come. These new projects at least offer hope that there will always be something new on the horizon, even if they are continually delayed...

9. Clint Eastwood's Cry Macho

Clint Eastwood Cry Macho
Warner Bros.

Produced, directed and starring Clint Eastwood, Cry Macho is based on the 1975 novel of the same name. The American neo-Western drama is about an old rodeo clown, played by Eastwood, who is hired to bring a young boy back to his father, taking him away from his alcoholic mother.

Cry Macho is a passion project for Eastwood who has been working with the material since 1988, though at the time he passed on making it to work on another Dirty Harry film. The screenplay was adapted by the original author, N. Richard Nash, back in 2000.

As the material has been in production for so long, this project could really go either way. However, the pedigree of people involved suggests that it's going to be a hit. Like many other Warner Bros. pictures in 2021, it is set for release on HBO Max on the same day that it hits theatres, the specific date as yet unknown.
