9 Great Movies About Summer Camp

8. Camp Nowhere

come nowhere This movie falls on the side of camp that is foreign to me - it is about a boy who hates the idea of sleep away camp. Fortunately for him, so do his friends. The natural solution? Blackmail a creepy deadbeat to pose as camp director for a camp that you design yourself and that has no supervision. It is the perfect scheme because whether it is fat camp or military camp their parents wanted, kids could use it to fit their needs. In order to avoid boredom, they end up actually creating the camp they always wanted. It is the Inglorious Basterds of camp movies as it is a revenge fantasy of every kid. I guess technically since Camp Nowhere came first, Inglorious Basterds would more accurately described as the Camp Nowhere of Nazi movies, but that does not seem quite as romantic. The idea of designing your own camp seems like a dream come true and is not particularly unique, but it does give the creators a tool to demonstrate what they think a kid's ideal camp would be. It is something that every camper has thought about at one point or another. Hands down though, the most important fact about this film - it introduced us to Jessica Alba. That alone earns a spot on this list.
