9 Horror Movie Villains We ALL Foolishly Thought Had WON

2. Jason Voorhees - Freddy Vs. Jason

Halloween Kills Michael Myers
New Line Cinema

The end of Ronny Yu's Freddy vs. Jason famously ends with Friday the 13th's Voorhees getting the better of Freddy Krueger.

In a literal explosive finale, the wounded Jason rips off Freddy's arm and runs him through with his own blade-tipped glove, allowing Lori (Monica Keena) the chance to decapitate Krueger.

From there, both of these uber-rogues fall into Camp Crystal Lake, seemingly dead - only for Jason to emerge from the water, carrying Freddy Krueger's head and cementing him as the winner of this battle for the ages.

While this is how the movie concludes - complete with a sly wink at the camera from the head of Krueger - there's another ending to the film that's worth highlighting. In said alternative finale, the action plays on for one more scene that shows Jason didn't fully banish Freddy.

This extended sequence - which can be found on Freddy vs. Jason home releases - shows Lori and her boyfriend Will about to have sex. After becoming extremely aggressive during all of this, Will shows off a set of Krueger-esque fingers, alluding that he has become controlled by Freddy.

So, the normal cut has Freddy's severed head winking, the alternative ending has him possessing Will. Either way, Jason's 'victory' wasn't quite as nailed-on as we'd initially believed.
