9 Huge Predictions For Black Panther
7. Erik Killmonger Will Be A Great Villain
We all know the criticisms of Marvel's villains, and for the most part these are justified. Through almost 20 films there are very few antagonists who have been portayed to their full potential.
However the last three instalments of the MCU have begun to change this trend, introducing Ego, The Vulture and Hela, all of which have been received well by audiences (even though Hela was under used, she still made enough of an impact for us to want to see more of her).
This new trend will be continued by Michael B. Jordan in Black Panther. Though the trailers show Erik Killmonger to be a mirror image of the titular hero, a trait found in too many Marvel villains, Jordan will overcome this stigma to portray a memorable villain worthy of challenging T'Challa for the Wakandan throne.
We have already seen that Killmonger can match T'Challa in a fist fight, but aside from a physical threat, he also poses a political threat, having his own ideas about how Wakanda should be ruled, and stopping at nothing to impose his will. Jordan has compared his character's relationship with T'Challa to that of Professor X and Magneto, possibly suggesting that the two are old friends.
This would add another layer of depth to the relationship, reminiscent of Obadiah Stane and Tony Stark in Iron Man.
