Long before Zack Snyder got his mitts on it the Justice League movie famously almost went in another direction, with Mad Max helmer George Miller putting the team together for a movie that was set for release in 2009.

The epic scale project would have been shot in Australia, and the cast included Armie Hammer playing Batman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash, Megan Gale for Wonder Woman and Common in the role of Green Lantern. Warner Bros. were quite hot on the idea and by all accounts it had a strong, emotionally charged script, but progress was stalled thanks to the writer’s strike of 2008, and Australia changed their tax rebate problem which saw the budget balloon to an ugly number.

With mounting problems Warners eventually pulled the plug, which broke Miller’s heart. Surprisingly fans weren’t keen on the idea at the time, since the Chris Nolan Dark Knight saga hadn’t ended and Miller was best known for the Babe and Happy Feet movies. They changed their tune after Mad Max: Fury Road came out, and mourned for the potentially amazing superhero extravaganza that could have been.

Can you think of any other insane movie team-ups or crossovers that could have happened? Which one would you most like to see happen one day? Let us know in the comments tread.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
