9 Insane Times Movies Stupidly Hid Actors Behind Prosthetics

6. Tilda Swinton - Snowpiercer

Tilda Swinton is one of the finest actors of her generation. Known for her chameleon-like ability to transform herself physically into whatever role she needs to embody, the actor has a knack for making you fully believe in the character she's playing.

Well, with the exception of Snowpiercer, anyway. Unlike her other flicks, it's difficult to not be hyperaware that yes, that is Tilda Swinton wearing the worst fake teeth in the world and imitating a stern, 1950s British schoolteacher.

For the first time it felt like it was Tilda Swinton playing a character, rather than Tilda Swinton being a character, which was such a shame considering just how hard she tried to overcome the prosthetics and just how naturally the filmmakers layered the rest of the film's many idiosyncrasies into the visual design without making them distracting.
