Danny Glover's Detective Tapp, despite only showing up as a side character, made enough of an impact to become deeply associated with the entire Saw series. He's seemingly mortally wounded at the end of the first film, shot in the chest, but as is often the case with Saw, nobody is ever really dead unless you see it (and even then, they still might end up coming back).

Consequently, fans waited for an answer to whether or not Tapp succumbed to his wounds, expecting some kind of grand twist. Then Saw V revealed that, yep, Tapp was dead, with his picture being included in a memorial for victims of Jigsaw's game. While that's not too insulting, as it's easy to put two and two together that the character simply succumbed to being shot - his true fate was actually revealed in the Saw video game tie-in.

In this release, it's actually revealed that Tapp was taken by Jigsaw after being shot, and forced into a series of sick games which he escapes and earns his freedom. But then, in that game's sequel, it's explained Tapp killed himself after escaping.

As a result, Tapp is the only character on this list to not only die between movie sequels, but video game sequels as well. Guy can't catch a break.
