9 Lame Opening Scenes In Otherwise Great Movies

The Goofy movie is a fantastic Disney flick about a boy and his dad bonding as they drive cross country and run into Bigfoot. Bigfoot's existence takes up a solid ten minutes of this film, but then is promptly forgotten. Surprisingly, this isn't the weirdest scene in the film.

The weirdest scene of the film is the first one, and guess what? It's a dream sequence. It reads as a horrifying metaphor for the fear of puberty. Max Goof, the cool hip rad protag, who sings and dances his way into our hearts, first appears in a golden field. He walks through it to find the girl he's crushing on.

As the two sit down, his hands expand, his feet too. He blooms and blossoms in a PG-version of the Fly's transformation. The field turns to thorns. Lightning crackles. He towers over his love interest, who screams, as he lets out a deafening roar, that is the Goof's cackle. And then he wakes up and every child in the theatre has to change their pants.
