9 Lame Opening Scenes In Otherwise Great Movies

5. The Avengers

If you think about the Avengers first scene, you're probably thinking of Maria Hill, Nick Fury, and Coulson, going into the bowels of a sci-fi station wherein Hawkeye is guarding the Tesseract. It's a cool, comicbook scene.

And it's not the first scene. Before that happens, we get a minute long sequence of a voice - that we've never heard before - talk about the Tesseract and how bad Earth is gonna get it when... someone?... finally gets down there.

That's it. Eventually we find out that the voice is that of The Other. Remember the Other? He was the voice for Thanos before Ronan killed him. Yeah, he wasn't that interesting, or even from the comics, so he definitely made the most sense to begin one of the most anticipated comic book movies of all time.

The beginning of the first Avengers film begins with Thanos' middle manager giving us an infodump while a weird-looking vision of the Tesseract floats in space.
