Which Film Ruined It? Final Destination 3... again How Did It Ruin It? By showing two girls trapped inside tanning beds and fried alive. Again, we have the third entry of the gore-galore death-cheat series, which simply had to be included for a second time for the way it scared people away from giving themselves a brown, healthy glow. Having already ruined carnivals, Final Destination 3 went ahead and transformed tanning salons from tranquil to terrifying. As is so often the case in the build up to the characters demise in the Destination films, a set of preposterous circumstances slowly build in the background of a scene where a couple of blissfully unaware twenty-somethings go about their routine. On this occasion, two narcissistic blonde clichés named Ashley and Ashlyn roll inside some electric tanning beds and hum away to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, before the entire rooms itinerary is set rolling into deathlike motion: trapping them inside whilst simultaneously cranking up the heat. We can almost see Deaths bony claw meticulously sweeping across the room and prodding particular objects over, with a shelf eventually locking itself between the beds to see the two girls subsequently sizzled alive. Its a sequence that plays on the fears of those who are claustrophobic and agoraphobic, as well as those who are never truly comfortable whilst getting their skin pinched brown. Theres plenty of evidence circling the net to suggest that the tanning bed scene in FD3 is utterly impossible, and that to fear the same sort of entrapment in a salon is ridiculous. Probably, yeah. But the Final Destination series would cheerfully admit to expressing a tongue-in-cheek attitude toward death anyway. Regardless of the facts, anyone whos seen the salon scene in FD3 will display a hesitancy about ever visiting one again.
