9 MCU Characters Most Unlike The Comics

6. Gamora

Like Star-Lord, Gamora was another Guardians Of The Galaxy character who was mostly reinvented for the MCU. In the comics, after all of Gamora's species was destroyed by a fanatical cult she was adopted and trained by Thanos to become a remorseless, vicious warrior. She eventually turned against Thanos to join with cosmic superhero Adam Warlock, though "The Most Dangerous Woman in the Galaxy" has occasionally returned to being loyal to the Mad Titan. In the Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, Gamora has a very different physical appearance but the same basic backstory of being raised and trained by Thanos. But in a twist, Thanos was the one who murdered her entire species. She turns against him in order to stop Ronan the Accuser's planet-destroying plans. Her personality is also far more likeable than the supreme warrior depicted in the comics, and in joining the Guardians she is portrayed as much more of a team player. Her budding romance with Star-Lord is also exclusive to the MCU. In other words, most of what makes Gamora a unique and fan-favourite character came from her MCU portrayal.
