9 MCU Characters Most Unlike The Comics

7. Star-Lord

Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord is a hilarious do-gooder who leads the Guardian Of The Galaxy with humorous quips and clever plans, right? Not if you read his adventures in his comics in the late 1970s. There Star-Lord was a typical space adventurer stock character who was quick with a trigger.

While in the movie Quill was abducted by aliens as a child, in the comics Quill was a NASA astronaut who swindles his way into becoming Star-Lord, and only made a handful of appearances until he was brought back and became the leader of the second Guardians team in 2008. There wasn't anything particularly humorous about him, and he certainly didn't seem like the type who would be played by funnyman Chris Pratt in a movie.

Naturally all that changed with the huge success of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. Nowadays the Star-Lord in Marvel Comics looks and acts a lot more like Chris Pratt than the character did previously. Marvel has also confirmed that Quill's father -- an intergalactic emperor named J'son of Spartax in the comics -- will be different in the MCU.

Star-Lord obviously has a more prominent and defined role in Marvel Comics today, but it took a movie adaptation to win fans over first by giving the character a much more interesting personality.
