9 MCU Characters Who Deserved More Screen Time

Another Thor entry, and we’re not done yet. While Idris Elba has a considerable back catalogue wasted in the MCU, he’s got nothing on Sir Anthony Hopkins. The veteran actor played some part in driving the plot in all three Thor movies, but none of them really made the most of him.

Like most things in the Thor franchise, Ragnarok did it best, allowing Hopkins to break out of the thespian reins of Odin’s typical characterisation with a bit of comedy. Whether it was Loki posing as Thor or the old man himself asking if his son was ‘Thor, God of hammers’, Hopkins saved his best take on the character until last.

While he got the least time in Ragnarok, his cameo length appearance allowed space for the rest of the story to fill. It’s in the first two movies where he really should’ve had more.

While they are Thor movies (the clue’s in the name), Marvel movies have always been great at drawing in the wider cast. Loki got in on the fun, but everyone else was left behind. With Odin, that feels especially egregious.
