9 Monstrous Problems You Will Hate In Pacific Rim

1. It's Too Long

Pacific Rim 132 minutes isn't an excessively long run-time for most movies, though the feeling coming out of Pacific Rim is that it suffers from the same sort of bloat that the Transformers movies do. While nowhere near as excessive - those films veer closer to 3 hours nowadays - the opening padding is greatly abundant, and the film would have been less of a slog had some of the needless establishing scenes been trimmed down, namely that martial arts exchange. With a run-time closer to 110 minutes, Pacific Rim could have been a snappy, break-neck paced action movie that moves so fast you don't even notice the lame duck characterisation; instead it's a fun if flabby experience that doesn't exactly linger in the mind for long afterwards.
