Captain America: Civil War: 9 Most Compelling Pieces Of Evidence That Proves Iron Man Will Die

4. The Iron Man 4 Issue

Iron Man 4 has been expected ever since the third movie hit - even those who despise Trevor Slattery can't argue with $1.2 billion at the box office - and while a standalone adventure that focuses solely on Tony Stark, with perhaps a bit of support from Rhodey (because he definitely isn't dying) could feel a bit antiquated in the modern, expansive MCU, it's a wonder that, in a slate stretching up to 2019, there isn't a film greenlit. Even Ant-Man has a sequel, for Supes' sake. Plainly, it looks like Iron Man 4 isn't happening, which is already a major reason to suggest Tony's not going to be around much longer. However, Downey, Jr.'s comments regarding the film could reveal even more. For the years straight after Iron Man 3, and crucially before Captain America 3 became Civil War, he was vaguely open about the prospect of a fourth instalment (a quadquel?), but as things have developed he's completely changed his tune, saying he now views Cap 3 as that step in Tony's arc. Of course, it's smart to keep focus on the movie at hand, but actually describing Civil War as Iron Man 4 implies it's totally off the cards, possibly for a very deadly reason.
