9 Most Outrageously Hilarious Horror Comedies of All Time

7. Tremors

Tremors succeeds because of the originality of its premise (giant prehistoric worm creatures who live underground stalk the denizens of an isolated Nevada town) and the great interplay of its characters. The banter keeps the tone jokey but never undermines the genuinely scary threat of the monsters (called Graboids because of the snake like tongues they use to pull their victims below ground). The funniest moment in the film occurs when a Graboid bursts through the basement wall of a couple of crazy gun nuts, Burt (Michael Gross) and Heather (Reba McEntire) Gummer. The Graboid didn't count on the Gummers' basement being a National Rifle Association member's wet dream. The Gummers proceed to unload every kind of firearm imaginable into the helpless Graboid's face in a scene that goes from dumb to ludicrous to delightfully insane. The beauty of the scene is how the Graboid still manages to remain frightening despite the silliness around it, which exemplifies why Tremors made our list.
