1. Alien
Aliens was a pretty amazing sequel, but then Alien 3came along, killing Newt, Hicks and Bishop inside the first few seconds, and then adding Ripley to the graveyard by the end too. But wait, Fox wanted Sigourney Weaver back for another sequel, and so she returns in Alien: Resurrection. How? Clones, of course! Taking place 200 years after Alien 3, Resurrection begins when a bunch of scientists use DNA and blood samples to create a Ripley clone for some reason. Oh, and she now has super strength. The Ripley clone is still alive at the end, but Resurrection is so dumb that the franchise ended there. They wouldnt dare follow up on that. Further driving the story into the ground, the Alien vs. Predator movies also followed, combining this with another franchise that had overstayed its welcome. The series started with two of the greatest science fiction movies ever made that never got too silly, but by Alien vs. Predator, the franchise is now full of lame dialogue and ridiculous sci-fi cliches like bringing back dead characters with cloning. It's about as far away from the pillars of the first film as could ever be imagined. What film franchises should have cut there losses after the first outing? Let us know in the comments below.
