7. Die Hard
20th Century Fox
Best film: Die Hard
Most enjoyable: Die Hard With A Vengeance Die Hard is unquestionably one of the greatest action films of all time. A smart script, a brilliant villain and career defining performance from Bruce Willis. Its hard to find fault just as its hard to argue any of its sequels can live up to the quality of the original. Despite its brilliance, the original Die Hard is not really something you would call fun. Its tense, suspenseful and brutal. The third instalment in the Die Hard franchise achieves a level of fun that the first cannot match. This is probably because its not really a Die Hard movie. Its a buddy cop film, starring John McClane and Jules from Pulp Fiction. The claustrophobia that played such a huge part in the tension of the first film is replaced by car chases, subway bombs, exploding boats, heists and wisecracking between the two leads. Suspense is replaced by fast-paced action. The audience is taken for a ride rather than feeling like were trapped in the air vents with the main character, but it sure is a good ride.
