9 Movie Franchises That Trade Quality For Enjoyment

7. Die Hard

Die Hard20th Century Fox Best film: Die Hard Most enjoyable: Die Hard With A Vengeance Die Hard is unquestionably one of the greatest action films of all time. A smart script, a brilliant villain and career defining performance from Bruce Willis. It€™s hard to find fault just as it€™s hard to argue any of its sequels can live up to the quality of the original. Despite it€™s brilliance, the original Die Hard is not really something you would call fun. It€™s tense, suspenseful and brutal. The third instalment in the Die Hard franchise achieves a level of fun that the first cannot match. This is probably because it€™s not really a Die Hard movie. It€™s a buddy cop film, starring John McClane and Jules from Pulp Fiction. The claustrophobia that played such a huge part in the tension of the first film is replaced by car chases, subway bombs, exploding boats, heists and wisecracking between the two leads. Suspense is replaced by fast-paced action. The audience is taken for a ride rather than feeling like we€™re trapped in the air vents with the main character, but it sure is a good ride.
