9 Movie Scenes You Didn't Know Had A Guest Director

5. Nation’s Pride - Inglorious Basterds

Inglorious Basterds saw the talented actor and director Eli Roth work with one of his all time heroes, so he decided to shoot his shot.

Roth stayed with the movie for its entire shooting duration, despite not being in that many of the scenes. While other stars travelled back and forth from their homes to the European set, Roth remained and offered Tarantino his services. ‘If you need any shots or pieces of scenes picked up to [make] Cannes’, Roth told him, he was the guy.

Tarantino told Roth he’d never done that sort of thing, but would consider it. Soon enough, Roth was asked to helm some B-reel footage for Nation’s Pride, the film which plays in the theatre as it burns down at the film’s climax.

Tarantino shot the dialogue for Nation’s Pride but gave Roth two days of filming, in which he got around 140 shots making 20 vignettes of soldiers running around and shooting.

However, upon seeing this footage, Tarantino was so impressed with Roth that he gave Roth a third day to shoot with Daniel Bruhl, the Nazi sniper, meaning Nation’s Pride is essentially Roth’s mini movie.
