9 Movies That Were Cancelled At The Last Minute

Unlike all of the other movies here, there were no external factors which led to the mid ‘00s Revenge Of The Nerds reboot/remake being cancelled at the last minute. Instead, it was just plain terrible.

Cult ‘80s comedy Revenge Of The Nerds does have a few moments which perhaps haven’t aged all that gracefully, but that didn’t stop Fox from pushing ahead with a new version in 2006, 22 years after the first one came out.

Adam Brody, hugely popular then thanks to The OC, was one of the leads, but just two weeks into the project, the whole thing was cancelled. Fox studio director Peter Rice was unimpressed with each daily screening in the first two weeks, and ordered production to grind to a halt.

Though Fox retain the rights to a reboot, they’ve never bothered having another go at it since. It’s one of those movies that’s probably best left alone though, so it’s no great shame.

Brody’s career fizzled once The OC came to an end, while director Kyle Newman had success directing music videos for Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. His features like Fanboys and Barely Lethal both got very ‘meh’ reviews, perhaps justifying Peter Rice’s decision.
