We hardly need point out what a chequered history this particular comic book movie has. But it seems things could have been even weirder, as Tarantino was at one point offered the reins.

Green Lantern is another of the blockbuster projects Tarantino has revealed he was offered in the wake of Grindhouse. It seems likely that the script he was offered was the more comedic version written by Robert Smigel, which had initially been earmarked for Jack Black. No, really.

Again, it doesn't look like Tarantino ever actually considered taking it on - and so, the path was clear for the much-maligned 2011 Ryan Reynolds movie from director Martin Campbell. And, as we'll see, this was not the first time Campbell took on a project which might have been Tarantino's.
