9 Other Major Franchises Quentin Tarantino Was Linked To Before Star Trek
5. Modesty Blaise
A new big screen take on the British comic strip heroine (first brought to film in 1966) has long been on the Hollywood back-burner, and Tarantino's name has been linked to it for much of that time - thanks in no small part to the fact that we see John Travolta reading a Modesty Blaise book (on the toilet, no less) in Pulp Fiction.
Just how close the project has ever come to fruition is unknown. Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez were both said to have expressed interest in the role in the early 2000s, and Neil Gaiman reportedly wrote a script treatment.
However, the net result of all this to date has been the 2003 direct-to-video movie My Name Is Modesty; an unremarkable, cut-price production made primarily to renew Miramax's hold on the film rights to the character.
The film was released with the words 'Quentin Tarantino presents' before the title, although it doesn't appear the filmmaker had much involvement; Scott Spiegel (From Dusk Till Dawn 2) took directorial duties.
