9 Pointless Political Statements In Otherwise Awesome Movies

1. Occupy Wall Street - The Dark Knight Rises

Bane We've all seen The Dark Knight Rises, and we all know how widely-dissected its political themes are. With regard to Bane's crusade reflecting the Occupy Wall Street movement, interpretations have fallen into two camps, that Christopher Nolan is siding with Occupy Wall Street - given Catwoman's clear denunciation of the rich, wealthy elite and their greedy ways - or that he is indicting them - given the social chaos and violence that Bane ends up causing. While Nolan insists that TDKR is not a political movie, many refuse to take that comment at face value, given the typically Conservative tone cutting throughout his trilogy. This film distinguishes itself from all others on this list in that it's the only one that hasn't even nailed down a consensus on what the political message is yet. Still, I'd rather be talking about what the Hell happened at the end rather than whether Bane is a reflection of Mitt Romney's investment fund Bain Capital (he's not).
