9 Post-Credits Scenes That Were Axed From Movies

Seemingly in an effort to distinguish themselves from the competition, DC movies - with a handful of exceptions - don't include post or mid-credits scenes. But that doesn't mean they weren't planned to have one initially, and BvS falls into that camp.

In an unusual move, a deleted scene from the film was released online just a few days after it hit cinemas. Titled "Communion", the scene showcased a much cooler-looking version of Steppenwolf than the one we got in Justice League, while also shedding more light on Lex's weird "he's found us!" breakdown at the end of the film.

The reason this scene was released like this was because director Zack Snyder was attempting to put his own spin on the traditional post-credits scene format. Speaking to reporters during a Justice League set visit (via CBR), the filmmaker said that Communion would've been a great after-credits stinger, but he ultimately decided against it:

"I kind thought like, 'Oh, that would be a cool after-credits sequence.' But then I was like, 'I don't know, can I do that?' Because Marvel does that. 'Is that a thing?' So we were like, 'Oh! Well, maybe there's another way to do it.'"

It was a neat idea, albeit a short-lived one: like a lot of things about the DCEU, Warner Bros has abandoned this practice of dropping random scenes online, in favour of normal post-credits teases in Aquaman and Shazam.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
