9 Post-Credits Scenes That Were Axed From Movies

While most post-credits scenes are envisioned by the directors, writers and producers, the idea to have some extra footage during the credits of Joker actually came from leading man Joaquin Phoenix.

Despite being a comic-book adaptation, Joker really isn't the type of movie that needs any sort of stinger, and the film wisely avoided including one. Phoenix's proposal wasn't to include an after-credits scene in the traditional sense, but rather, he wanted to have a series of bloopers running alongside the filmmakers' names.

Director Todd Philips revealed this information to GamesRadar, and also explained why he didn't want any sort of post or mid-credits footage at the end of the film:

"The idea of a post-credits scene in this movie would seem wrong, and a little too light for me. That wouldn't have been something we did. But Joaquin said it would be funny to put bloopers alongside the names like they did in the old days."

Clearly, Phoenix's idea didn't make it very far, but the interesting takeaway here is that a good amount of bloopers from the film might exist... somewhere. Blu-Ray gag reel, anyone?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
