7. Making Thor's Opposition A Non-Threat
Nothing that Thor - or indeed any other MCU hero - has faced so far has really made me feel as if said characters have ever been in any real danger. The only opponents that the heroes in the MCU have faced so far have either been on their level (such as Abomination to Hulk, Iron Monger to Iron Man and Red Skull to Captain America) or far below them (such as the Chitauri soldiers to Hulk, Iron Man and Thor). All we've seen from the trailers so far is Thor and his allies fighting against mooks - nameless cannon fodder that Thor can handle with ease. Even the giant rock monster that approached the Thunder God in one of the latest trailers (which looked extremely formidable) was destroyed by Thor with a single, nonchalant swing of his hammer. Here's hoping that the likes of Malekith and Kurse are presented in a way that genuinely makes them a threat to Thor. We need to see them displaying power of a yet unseen level in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in order to make this movie bigger and better than anything that came before it in the MCU. We, as an audience, need to feel that aforementioned feeling that puts us on the edge of our seats with concern for the titular hero - otherwise this will be "just another superhero movie".
