9 Really Pathetic Horror Movie Villains

7. The Mangler (1995)

The Mangler Truly, truly awful trash directed by Tobe Hooper (who should have known better than to get involved in a film with such a ludicrous premise), unlike a lot of the other titles on this list, the film is not amusing in a 'so bad it is good' way, it's just terrible. A laundry press becomes possessed by Satan after a drop of virgin's blood splashed on it. It turns murderous and starts knocking off the factory workers while Robert Englund chews the scenery as the evil factory owner. I recently wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this dirge on the horror film channel. 90 minutes I will never get back again! I will accept that the special effects were alright and it is amusing watching people getting mulched in it. But good effects cannot sustain a poor plot, bad acting and general trashiness. A travesty of a Stephen King adaptation, The Mangler paints a very poor portrait of Hooper's directorial skills and it begs the question - why do people continue to work with the mangle when they know it's bad news? A possessed laundry machine is a silly villain.
