6. Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes (1978)
Tomatoes become sentient, for reasons that are not fully explained, and turn on their human counterparts. This results in much silly, highly camp fun. Poorly received by critics but possessing a large cult fan base, the film spawned two sequels. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes tries dreadfully hard to be entertaining - to send up Hollywood epics and bad movies. But it is at heart a bad movie itself with cheesy dialogue, bad acting and rubbish special effects. The intention behind the movie was pure but it is just too poorly executed, and it is so camp and OTT it grates on the viewer's nerves. I think that it is one of the films people say they like when they want to appear 'cool'. And the tomatoes are silly villains to boot.
