9 Reasons 2016 Will Kill The Comic Book Movie Boom
7. The Schedule Is Set Too Far In Advance
We know just about everything that's happening in the realm of comic book movies for the next five years. We know this because the studios have already told us; we've got the slate in front of us and there's no turning back now. Or is there? Let's just say, hypothetically, that one of the first instalments of a pre-destined three-part series tanks at the box office. (Like, oh I don't know, the second rehashing of four mutants that are supposedly pretty fantastic but turn out to be completely underwhelming and ordinary.) But now you've already set yourself up for a sequel the following year. You're locked in baby, and there's not much you can do about it but grit your teeth and hope the general public develops a sudden case of short term amnesia, allowing you to continue on as planned and earn back some of the money you've already sunk into this probably sinking ship. That's the danger of promising things to people before you've had a chance to consider the possibility that your planned franchise will bask in a golden glow.
