9 Reasons DC TV Shows Are Better Than The Movies

7. Better Villains

One of the many problems with Suicide Squad was just how poor the villains were: Enchantress was Cara Delevingne in rags, waving her hands around a bit and shouting, while Incubus was just a big, sloppy CGI mess.

It's a follow-on from Batman v Superman, which had a bland take on Doomsday, and Jesse Eisenberg doing Mark Zuckerberg meets the Riddler while supposedly being Lex Luthor. Wonder Woman was mostly a great movie, but if there's a point it was let down it was with Ares. Zod was a solid villain in Man Of Steel in fairness, a testament to the quality of Michael Shannon.

The CW shows have made their mistakes in this regard too: Vandal Savage, once put into a full series rather than crossover events, was incredibly dull, and The Flash has had one speedster Big Bad too many.

However, they've also created some of the best on-screen villains of the last few years: Reverse-Flash and Deathstroke. They were clear in their motivations, compelling in their performances, and pushed the heroes to the limit, always feeling like a legitimate threat. Astra, Malcolm Merlyn, Damien Darhk, Prometheus, Zoom, and the Legion of Doom didn't quite match up to those lofty standards, but they were all entertaining to watch battle the heroes, with some of them having deeper emotional connections as well.
