9 Reasons DC TV Shows Are Better Than The Movies
6. They've Nailed The Casting
In terms of casting, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for the DC Extended Universe. Ben Affleck could be a great Batman with the right material, Gal Gadot is already one of the best things about the DCEU, the, erm, flashes we've seen of Ezra Miller are promising, and Jason Momoa has somehow turned Aquaman into a total badass, and is clearly having the time of his life doing so.
On the flip side, Henry Cavill's not a great Superman (not terrible, but just kind of there), Jesse Eisenberg's a mess as Luthor, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress feels increasingly like stunt casting that backfired, and the rest of the Suicide Squad don't do much to elevate the material either.
Now, obviously The CW (or CBS, as was the case for Supergirl), can't quite attract the same profile of actor, but they've done a superb job of choosing their heroes.
Arrow owes a large amount of success to Stephen Amell, bringing not just the physicality but real strength and depth to the character who could've just been a playboy. Grant Gustin was perfect for Barry Allen, and has nailed everything asked of him; Melissa Benoist was an immediate beacon of hope and light as Supergirl, and gives an effortlessly charming performance that is just fun to watch.
Legends has the likes of Prison Break duo Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, both just the right amount of hammy they need to be, Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill, and Caity Lotz as the best version of a Canary they've put on screen.
