9 Retarded Movie Villains Who Were Successfully Reimagined

1. Jason Voorhees

Retarded: By the tenth film, Jason X, the killer who hails from Camp Crystal Lake has become something of a self-parody, becoming re-jigged at the end of the film as a metal mask-wearing, Terminator-esque psychopath, who ends up getting tackled back to Earth and burning up in the atmosphere. Though hilarious in its own way, it's beyond stupid. Reimagined: While Jason X was followed by a regular appearance from Jason in Freddy vs. Jason, it wasn't until the 2009 Friday the 13th remake that an attempt to re-establish a sensible continuity was made. Though hardly a high-point of Voorhees' cinematic encounters, the new Friday did at least understand the essence of its principal character, returning to the simple thrills of the first few Friday films, before things got too silly. While horror remakes and reboots are pointless on the whole, at least this helped course-correct Jason's look above all else. Which villainous reimagining is your favourite?
