9 Ridiculous Movies With Multiple Plot Twists

5. Swordfish

Warner Bros.

Deep in the dank, dark days of John Travolta, there lies Swordfish - a movie about a collection of spies, hackers, and official agents all intertwined in a bid to secure money from government bank accounts.

Blackmailing an elite computer hacker named Stanley that only the early 2000s could create, Travolta's Gabriel wants a couple of billion dollars in his pocket to fund his covert anti-terrorist group - and will stop at nothing to get it.

Cue a couple of hours of absolutely senseless plot twists as allegiances shift, body doubles are planted, and loyalties are tested and broken, with it never really being clear who belongs to what organisation and why throughout the run time. The film is self aware of quite how explosive the plot gets, too, with Dog Day Afternoon openly referenced as the movie draws attention to the art of misdirection.

Swordfish knows exactly what it's doing all the way through, even if the audience don't.
