9 Sci-Fi Movie Villains Who Were Actually RIGHT
1. Roy Batty - Blade Runner
Do Androids dream of electric sheep?
Maybe not, but they certainly dream of freedom.
Roy Batty is the antagonist in Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, and Harrison Ford's Deckard is the man tasked with terminating him.
It's okay though, Deckard is the hero, because Roy Batty is nothing more than a machine. A sentient machine, manufactured to be practically indistinguishable from humans, and that means he's nothing more than the property of the Tyrell Corporation.
Designed for combat, Roy Batty has superhuman strength and endurance and a genius level intellect, but as a Replicant, his life span is only four short years.
Batty was made to influence the world by some of its most powerful inhabitants, and despite having the intelligence and the sentience to understand exactly what he was doing and why, he wasn't allowed to be a true part of society.
Rutger Hauer's excellent performance only highlights the humanity in Batty, and while watching Blade Runner, it often becomes difficult to remember exactly who the villain is.
