9 Sci-Fi Movies That Flopped Hard In 2022
8. Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood
Another Netflix movie that fell short was Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood. Hopefully the streaming service didn't pay for that title per character.
Written and directed by the Before trilogy's Richard Linklater, this film (the title of which will not be typed in full again) combines the story of the Apollo 11 moon landings with that of an excited child watching it all unfold.
It's based loosely on Linklater's own childhood experiences and features such stars as Jack Black, Glen Powell, and Zachary Levi.
In a pleasant turn of events, critics absolutely loved this movie. It sits on 91% on Rotten Tomatoes with praise being heaped on its nostalgic feel and personal motifs.
Although, it turns out people ones paid to review this animation were the only ones who saw it.
After a brief theatrical run, the film was released on Netflix. It failed to break the top ten in any region, which is sorely disappointing for something that garnered so much love.
With a big director and cast behind it, the failure of this picture to capture audiences' attention is one giant leap backwards for Netflix-kind.
