9 Sci-Fi Movies That Flopped Hard In 2022

A sci-fi disaster movie about what happens when the Moon suddenly disappears, Moonfall is one of the most expensive independent films ever made. It's also one of the biggest box office flops of all time. That is not positive correlation.

Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley are better off staying in space rather than coming back down to Earth to see the absolute state their movie got itself into.

It's not like they didn't try though.

Moonfall had the backing of Lionsgate, it was advertised relentlessly, and racked up millions of interactions on social media. However, there were also several behind the scenes mishaps that led to its downfall.

It was rushed through principal photography because of the pandemic, which lead to additional spending. The film wasn't released in Canada because the country's distributor was worried about spending money on its promotion. Also, it was up against Jackass Forever, which totally kicked it backside.

It also didn't help that the film was average at best, with critics likening it to a B-Movie. In short, Moonfall was the victim of several misfortunes, only some of which were its own fault.
