In 2018, horror thriller Truth or Dare was released, twisting the idea of the popular party drinking game. For the players in this version for the movie, failing at going through with the tasks results in a much darker outcome compared to taking a shot.

Created by popular horror company Blumhouse Productions, the movie involves some seriously creepy moments, including the sinister smiles the victims have to endure when asked the question.

As with most teen horror films, the characters all have secret hidden backstories that they must confess to in order to break away from whatever curse or spirit is following them. For any normal person forced to play the game, the winner would be revealed much too quickly.

The directors cut was included in the DVD release of the film, which removed the censoring to make the PG -13 rating for theatrical viewing. Many of the drinking scenes were ultimately cut or shortened, and more gruesome moments were completely taken out in some cases. The new version has now been replaced on Netflix, so watch at your own risk.
