9 Terrible 2015 Oscar Nominations - Corrected

The nine ill-advised 2015 nominees and the suggestions for their replacements.

Tom Hardy Locke The Oscars has always proven contentious. If Crash isn€™t beating Brokeback Mountain to Best Picture, then Renee Zellweger is taking home an award for Cold Mountain when really it should have been anyone in the room but her. Sometimes what happens at the Oscars is, as in life, simply not fair at all. Still, it's difficult to remember the last time the Academy got it so wrong at just the nominations stage. With such a great set of 2014 contenders to choose from, it€™s hard to believe that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) managed to get it so wrong in so many categories for 2015. Where prestige pics like The Theory of Everything and American Sniper rule, other acclaimed dramas are inexplicably largely ignored (Gone Girl) or shut out altogether (A Most Violent Year). This article won't touch the arena of Best Picture for this list, because there are simply too many great movies from 2014 that could be in there that aren€™t (no Foxcatcher, Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, Under the Skin, Blue Ruin, Fury, A Most Wanted Man...). Instead, it'll look to the remaining categories. More specifically, the nine ill-advised 2015 nominees and the suggestions for their replacements.
