9 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Comic Book Movies

7. Bruce Banner Can't Control The Hulk - Marvel Cinematic Universe

After Bruce Banner explained in The Avengers that he has a secret to controlling the Hulk, that he's "always angry", many fans took this at face value to mean that Banner had managed to completely bring the big green guy under his control, and could deploy him at a moment's notice.

Why It's Wrong: Both subsequent MCU movies featuring the Hulk have categorically proven this wrong, but because it's fun to parrot Joss Whedon's cutesy dialogue, people often forget about it.

While Banner can certainly exhibit a measure of control over the Hulk's appearances, his sporadic transformations in both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok make it clear that he doesn't have anything close to absolute dominion over his alter ego.

Given that Banner spent two years "in the backseat" by the time Ragnarok took place and had a limited recollection of what happened during that time, it's important to go back and understand the real meaning of Banner's Avengers catchphrase.
