9 Things Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Did Right

2. It Wraps Everything Up Very Well

Rise finishes the Skywalker Saga's story very nicely. The First Order is dealt with, Palpatine is permanently killed, Rey is evidently going to be the first in a new generation of Jedi and the actions of the Original Trilogy's characters, although most of them are now dead, have brought Kylo Ren back from the Dark Side, given Rey the courage to defeat the Emperor and unite the Galaxy against the First Order.

Providing a good ending was Rise's most important goal and it more than delivered on that. There are some dangling threads, such as how Maz Kanata got Luke's lightsaber, but these are largely minor strands and perhaps these will be answered in the still-growing Star Wars Expanded Universe.

Regarding a common complaint about the ending, what the f**k is wrong with Rey calling herself Rey Skywalker? After all, she was very close to Leia, Luke was important in her training and it's unlikely she'd want to call herself Rey Palpatine, so why has this final line been so widely criticised?

Still, we can all agree that final shot of Rey and BB-8 standing in front of Tatooine's twin suns was beautiful.
