9 Things Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Did Right

1. The Story Is Great And The Film Was Only A Few Fixes Away From Awesomeness

On paper, much like the Prequels, The Rise of Skywalker is actually very good since it has a strong story.

Leia sacrifices herself in order to turn her son back to the Light Side, the galaxy is brought together against the First Order by the Resistance, Rey faces a spiritual conflict within her due to her Sith heritage and Luke helps her to believe in herself, Rey and Kylo Ren defeat the Emperor together with some assistance from the Jedi of the past... you know what, all of that is pretty awesome when you think about it.

With a longer run-time that did the story justice and better connections to Last Jedi (for example, Luke could've helped inspire the galaxy to unite against the First Order), it could easily have been a four-star movie; there is plenty of strong material within Rise even if the delivery was flawed.

Overall, The Rise of Skywalker is a perfectly solid blockbuster that isn't a great film, but it certainly isn't as bad as many have said. At least it's better than the prequels and worse still, Solo and the animated Clones Wars movie and, worst of all, the Star Wars Holiday Special.
