9 Things We Want To See In Doctor Strange 2
6. Strange's Growth As Sorcerer Supreme
While there will certainly be some question of who will become the new Sorcerer Supreme, it's probably safe to assume that Strange will eventually take over the title. However, having him become the most powerful sorcerer so quickly would be a mistake.
The first film made it clear that Strange was a brilliant man, which is used to show how he so quickly mastered the mystic arts. By the end of the film, Strange seemed to be more skilled than veteran sorcerers like Mordo and Kaecilius. To have him reach the level of greatest sorcerer alive by the second film is too soon. We want to see Strange succeed but it's boring if he doesn't need to struggle a little in the process.
Perhaps the sequel could reintroduce Mordo as having mastered his skills in a way that dwarfs Strange's own abilities. It could be an interesting twist for Mordo to be named Sorcerer Supreme leading to him using that power to wipe out all other sorcerers. Or perhaps Strange's arrogance could come back into play with him seizing the mantle for himself only to discover he is not ready for such power.
Should Strange become the true Sorcerer Supreme? Of course, but it's important that we see him earn it.
