9 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Johnny Depp
3. He's Very, Very Expensive
While the details of his earnings aren't usually disclosed, there are a lot of suggestions about what hiring Johnny Depp really costs.
When he first came to prominence in the TV series 21 Jump Street, he'd already appeared in three movies. Most notably, Wes Craven offered him a role in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and he appeared in Platoon - the public were already aware of him... to an extent.
As such, Depp was paid $45,000 per episode of 21 Jump Street and starred in 82 episodes totalling $3.69 million. While this seems like a lot of cash to play with, he's only gone on to command larger sums in recent years.
A fairly humble $10 million was his fee for the first Pirates of the Caribbean film when compared to $20 million for its sequel and $55 million for the lacklustre On Stranger Tides. Depp was also paid in excess of $50 million for Alice in Wonderland and, somehow, he took home $18 million from the complete flop that was Mortdecai.
