9 Unintentionally Cautionary Movie Taglines

5. "We've Sensed it. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening" - The Happening

The Tagline: "We've Sensed it. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening" A clever tagline is one that works on multiple levels. In the tagline for M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, for example, there's both an ominous warning and a reminder of the director's rapidly worsening gallery of films (in case you needed more of a reason to stay away). The Sixth Sense was OK, but over-hyped. Signs, on the other hand, was much less than OK. But here, following Shyamalan's abysmal Lady in the Water, the promotional material is presenting something called The Happening, and even the tagline seems to be wary of it. We sensed Shyamalan's secret lack of talent, we saw the signs of his decline, and The Happening truly marks the point at which we all stopped taking M. Night Shyamalan's films seriously forever.
