The Tagline: "Get Lost!" Stephen Hopkins' Lost in Space wasn't a well-liked film. Adapted from the '60s TV show of the same name, Lost in Space took all the elements of the old series and added Matt LeBlanc, Heather Graham and two of the most annoying child actors to ever make a journey into the void. Summing up the general critical consensus, Boxoffice magazine called it: "the dumbest and least imaginative adaptation of a television series yet translated to the screen." Helpfully, someone provided a disclaimer in the form of the tagline: "Get Lost!" was the most succinct way of telling audiences of 1998 to back off and watch, I don't know, Godzilla instead. Alternative tagline: "Danger Will Robinson!" is almost as good, a knowing wink to the Lost in Space franchise... as well as another clue that something troubling is afoot.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
