9 Unmade Guillermo Del Toro Projects We’d Love To See

2. The Hobbit

Justice League Dark
New Line Cinema

The first entry in the Hobbit trilogy was released back in 2012 and was directed by Peter Jackson - the wonderful creative behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

What you might not know is that Guillermo Del Toro was originally attached to direct. He spent around two years developing the project, but eventually made the difficult decision to move on because of a disparity in visions. In other words, there was a completely different version of The Hobbit that we’ll never see.

Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films are pretty great, however, it's hard not to wonder what Del Toro’s take on the franchise would have been like. After all, he is a masterful Director with unique vision and perspective, as well as an aptitude for fantasy.

Del Toro and Middle Earth are a match made in heaven, so it’s a shame that we didn’t see the outcome.
